Wait Until Mother Takes Up the Forty-Hour Week

"Ding" drew this cartoon in 1936 as a commentary on the New Deal proposal to reduce the work week to 40 hours. The cartoon has been widely reprinted on Mother's Day, and it is reprinted here with the acknowledgment that there is no occupation more demanding of skill, patience, intelligence, strength, and stamina than being a mother.
